According to Homer, Nestor was the highest king who participated in the Trojan War.  For as many years as the Trojan battles existed, the danger of serious internal conflict existed often

and Nestor was their wise peacekeeper.
His palace was discovered in Pylos many decades ago in a magical landscape with olive trees on the top of a hill with a view of the sea.  Its sightseers may also visit the nearby town of the Land, and visit the museum which hosts discoveries from the court of Nestor entailing of many pre-historic tombs found in Messinia.
