Kalamata Castle

The Castle of Kalamata, with a panoramic view of the center of Kalamata, has ties to the family of the Villehardouins who insitutionalised the royal princedom of Achaias.

The castle of Kalamata features Princess Izambo of Aggelos Terzaki, and today consists of samples of the castle institutionalized by the Franks in the Peloponnese.
It is a location where anyone can enjoy the calmness offered by the lush pine tree landscape, however, due to a risk element, visitors can only see the perimeters within the castle because the central door is locked.
A cement amphitheater exists in the castle where the City of Kalamata organizes cultural events in the summer months with the historical center lit up in the background.
